Simple Network Paging Protocol (SNPP)

The Simple Network Paging Protocol (SNPP) was devised as a means of easily communicating with Pagers. As the popularity of pagers has diminished, and the mobile phone has become more popular, the need has developed to easily send messages from computers to mobile phones using SMS.

Using SMS it is possible to get a delivery confirmation. Many paging systems do not provide a two way communications link, so a delivery report is not possible.

Harris Retail Services have developed a SNPP to SMS gateway. This gateway can be hosted on your own servers (running under Windows NT, XP, Win 2000 or Win 2003), or Harris can host the service on your behalf, only charging for the messages sent.

As SNPP is available on several systems as a means of sending messages to pagers, this service provides a simple integration of your systems to the mobile phone.
